R.C. Willey, the largest home furnishings
retailer west of the Mississippi, is certainly no
ordinary furnishing store. In 1932, Rufus Call
Willey started his business selling appliances
door to door out of his pickup truck. In 1949,
R.C opened his first retail store in Syracuse,
Utah, when the town had less than 300 people.
The 600 sq. ft. building had one employee and
a 9 party phone line. Today we have stores
in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Sacramento,
California. Our stores average over 100,000
square feet, attractively displaying furniture,
floor coverings, electronics, and appliances.
The home furnishings and home entertainment
systems we sell are displayed in fully
accessorized “life style” settings attracting a
clientele heavily weighted towards females
and families. This unique retail format
exposes our vendor’s products to customers
that would not normally be attracted to a
traditional TV and appliance super store. The
home furnishing friendly environment coupled
with a highly trained sales staff and easy retail
financing equates to increased market share
for our suppliers in the markets in which we
serve. R.C. Willey is owned by investment
giant Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway. |
