Founded in 1963 by Gordon Hartunian, the
“warehouse” concept for appliances and electronics
began with a single store in Center Line, Michigan.
Since that time, ABC Warehouse has grown to
become Michigan’s largest appliance/electronics
retailer with 42 locations within Michigan, Ohio and
Indiana. Most recently, ABC Warehouse has added
premium mattresses and quality home entertainment
furniture to its product mix. All 42 ABC Warehouse
locations now boast a “Mattress Central” department
offering all sizes and all comfort levels of premium
mattresses, all at “The Closest Thing To Wholesale”®
In 1984, ABC Warehouse purchased Mickey
Shorr, a well-known chain of mobile electronics
specialty stores in Michigan. Currently Mickey Shorr
operates 16 store locations in the Michigan market.
In 1990, ABC purchased Hawthorne Home
Appliances and Electronics, a single store operation
offering a higher-end product selection. Shortly,
a second store was added for Hawthorne. In early
2001, ABC purchased a local, high-end housewares
business by the name of Kitchen Glamor. Kitchen
Glamor was added as a “store-within-a-store” concept
to both locations and now compliments Hawthorne
by offering top brand bakeware, cookware, cutlery,
and kitchen electrics.
Despite tremendous expansion, ABC Warehouse
continues with the same kind of small-family team
environment with which they started over 48 years
ago, dedicated to low price, large selection and strong
customer service.
